Equipment proven on screen before it is cut

Heavy equipment for hot, dirty, high-load duty. Designed from first principles and validated numerically, because the prototype is the production machine.

01Equipment design
02FEA & stress analysis
03CFD analysis
043D modelling

There is no prototype run for a 300 tonne transfer car or a water-cooled furnace panel. The first one built is the one that goes into service, and it has to survive thermal cycling, mechanical shock and an environment that punishes optimistic assumptions.

So the analysis has to carry the risk. We size structures with FEA, check thermal and flow behaviour with CFD, and model the full assembly in 3D against the real plant geometry before releasing anything for fabrication.

// What this covers

Inside the scope

01

Equipment design

Mechanical design of furnace equipment, transfer cars, ladles, handling systems and custom machinery, engineered to the plant's cycle and layout.

02

FEA & stress analysis

Structural and thermal finite-element analysis of critical components, with the calculations packaged as certifiable documentation.

03

CFD analysis

Furnace gas flow, fume extraction, combustion and ventilation studies used to validate a design rather than explain it afterwards.

04

3D modelling

Full 3D plant and equipment models with clash detection, driven off laser scans where the existing layout has to be matched.

Where we have done it

Vinton Steel (USA, 2025): basic and detail engineering of EAF tapping, shell transfer and empty ladle transfer cars, plus a steel shop ladle. Aluminium skimming machines, melting furnaces and ingot dryers designed for recyclers across three continents. Strategic CFD analysis for Nervacero and Megasa canopy and rectification studies. Toolchain includes ANSYS, SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, PV Elite, CAESAR II and AVEVA E3D.
